On a somewhat regular basis, our Customer Service team gets emails from customers with harrowing stories of how their Mitsubishi vehicle kept them safe in a collision. These stories are always tough to read. You know they have a happy ending, but putting yourself into the mind of someone who experienced a potentially life-altering collision themselves, or had a family member go through it, is the stuff of nightmares. We had one such letter come in from a family in Ontario, whose son was involved in a serious collision in a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander. The young man lost control at highway speed when he swerved to miss an animal. The vehicle rolled and landed upside down in a ditch. The Outlander was a write-off, but thankfully, its safety fea- tures did exactly what they were engineered to do, and he walked away with only some bruising and a cut on his forehead. “We are so thankful that Mitsubishi has invested so much in the safety of their vehicles both new and older … Please pass my heartfelt thanks to all your designers, engineers and line workers. Along with company manage- ment for allowing us to have driven a safe vehicle,” wrote the young man’s father. Making high-quality, well-engineered and, most importantly, safe vehicles that you can rely on for many years is part of the Mitsubishi Motors’ culture and heritage. Beyond the standard airbags and vehicle crumple zones, with features like Super All-Wheel Control and a suite of advanced driver assist systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Mitigation and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, you can trust that your vehicle is designed to keep its occupants safe. As you may have read earlier in this issue in Andy Lilienthal’s piece “How Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control takes the chill out of winter driving,” these safety features aren’t just marketing hype. These are highly advanced tech- nologies honed over decades of research and development all aimed at increasing safety and confidence in any driving condition. That’s the kind of thing that will help you sleep better at night. Until next time,
