Manitoba Winnipeg Folk Festival July 7 to 10
Taking place in Regina’s REAL District, the largest interconnected event complex in Canada, Queen City Ex(hibition) kicks off on Aug. 3. Formerly going by Buffalo Days, and a lot of different names since the fair has been coming to town since 1894, visitors can look forward to food, music, rides, a petting zoo and shopping. Legendary Rapper, actor, filmmaker and all- around cultural icon Ice Cube will be headlining the coming Ex. Additionally, homegrown blues rock outfit Wide Mouth Mason and six-time Juno Award winners the Sam Roberts Band is set to hit the stage as well.
Following a two-summer hiatus due to the pandemic, the 47th edition of the Winnipeg Folk Festival is back at Birds Hill Provincial Park in July. Whether driving, bussing, cycling or walking in, or camping on-site, all guests are treated to an extensive lineup of acts that in past years have included Death Cab for Cutie, Sheryl Crow, Feist, and many others. Families attending can also take advantage of kids’ programming like watching performances under the Chickadee Big Top, catching the Castlemoon Theatre puppet show in the Reading Tent or trying hoop dancing out in the field.
